Prepare all tools needed to set up your COMMENCAL bike correctly:
- Allen keys: 1,5mm through to 8mm
- Torx T25 key
- Track pump with a gauge
- High pressure suspension pump
- Torque wrench
- Assembly grease
Mount your pedals onto the crank arms.
Make sure you attach the right pedal to the right crank arm and the left to left. The right pedal has a normal thread, the left has an inverted thread.
Grease the pedal threads.
Tighten the pedals with a suitable wrench tool (15mm or Allen key) to a torque of 35 N.m.
Adjust the position of your saddle so that it's horizontal. To do so, turn the seat post bolts with the correct Allen key.
Adjusting your headset:
- Loosen the stem bolts which tighten it around the steerer tube.
- Align the stem with the front wheel.
- Tighten the top headset bolt. Be careful, the RIDE ALPHA top cap bolt needs to be tighten with a 8mm Allen key to a torque of 3 N.m (the torque is really low so use the 8mm Allen key with it's longer side to avoid overtightening this bolt).
- Make sure there is no play in the headset and that the fork turns freely.
- Tighten the stem bolts around the fork steerer tube with the right Allen key, to the torque indicated on the stem.
Adjust the position of brake levers with a T25 Torx key for SRAM brakes and a suitable Allen key for other brands. Align the levers with your forearms as a basic setting.
Tigthen front brake caliper bolts with a 5mm Allen key.
Align the brake caliper so that the gap between the disc and the pads is the same on both sides.
Set the tyre pressure (check recommendations depending on tyre size and weight of the rider).
Set the pressure of the air suspension with a high pressure suspension pump. See the manufacturer's recommendations for the suspension model and the weight of the rider.
Adjust your suspension. See the manufacturer's recommendations for the suspension model and the weight of the rider.
Install the accessories provided with the bike; mud guard, frame protection, foam tube etc.
Make sure that the drivetrain runs freely.
Congratulations, your COMMENCAL bike is all set up and ready to ride!
Test it out in the car park at low speed to ensure everything is OK.
Now it's time to go and enjoy riding your favourite spots!
