Regler son Commencal Meta Power intégré après montage.
STEP 0

Your COMMENCAL META POWER battery assisted bike is now in one piece!

Here’s some help to adjust all the settings properly.

IMPORTANT: Please read the SHIMANO STEPS E8000 manual carefully beforehand.

DO NOT switch on the battery until you’ve charged it 100% (final steps).

STEP 1

Prepare the necessary tools before you start:

- Allen key set: 3 to 8mm

- T25 Torque key

- Tyre pump with pressure gauge

- High pressure pump for suspension

- Torque wrench

- Grease

STEP 2

Put your pedals on.

Make sure you remember they have specific sides, the right pedal (Right) has a thread on the right, the left pedal (Left) has a thread on the left (reversed).

Grease the threads of the pedals.

Tighten them with a 6mm Allen key and wrench to 35 N.m.

STEP 3

Adjust your saddle horizontally using the saddle rail screws and a 4mm Allen key.

Tighten the bolts to the torque indicated on the seat post (max 10N.m).

STEP 4

To set up your headset:

- Loosen the 2 screws on the stem at the fork pivot with a 4mm Allen key

- Align the stem with the front wheel

- Tighten the headset cover screw with a 4mm Allen key

- Check that there is no play in the headset and that it turns freely

STEP 5

Tighten the stem bolts at the fork steerer using the 4mm Allen key and torque indicated on the stem (5.5Nm).

STEP 6

Tighten the remaining stem bolts with a 4mm Allen key and torque indicated on the stem (5.5Nm).

STEP 7

Adjust the position of the brake levers with a T25 Torque key (preferably a position of natural alignment with the forearms).

Check that the position of the front brake lever does not interfere with the operation of the Shift Assist (level of assistance mode shifter).

Adjust the Display to your liking then tighten with a 3mm Allen key paying attention to the 0.8 N.m. torque.

Check the tightness of the grips with a 3mm Allen key.

STEP 8

Adjust the position of the KS seat post lever and tighten it with a 3mm Allen key.

STEP 9

Loosen the screws on the front brake caliper half a turn with a 5mm Allen key.

Adjust the caliper so you have the same space on each side between the disc and the pads and to prevent the disc from rubbing the pads.

Once the caliper is aligned, tighten the screws on the front brake caliper with a 5mm Allen key.

Also check the alignment of the rear brake caliper.

STEP 10

Tighten the wheel axle with a 6mm Allen key to the torque indicated on the fork (9-13N.m).

STEP 11

Adjust the pressure of your shock to respect the 25% SAG rule.

The shock rod is engraved with the % SAG.

Adjust the pressure of your fork with the shock pump (see recommendations according to suspension model and rider weight).

STEP 12

Check the tightness of the rear wheel axle with a torque wrench with a 6mm Allen socket. Observe the torque indicated on the axle (9 to 13,5N.m).

STEP 13

Check how the transmission is working.

Check that the chain guide is correctly positioned, otherwise adjust it with a 4mm Allen key.

STEP 14

Adjust the height of the seat post according to the required pedalling position. Tighten the seat clamp with a 4mm Allen key to a torque of 5 Nm.

STEP 15

For good cleanliness of your cockpit, you can install the SHIMANO rubber rings to guide the electric mode selector cable to the left side of the handlebar.

STEP 16

Disassemble the grip, gear and brake lever on the left side of the handlebar.

Disconnect the power cable from the screen.

STEP 17

Pass the gear selector cable through the 3 rubber rings.

STEP 18

Install the rubber rings with the cable on the handlebars. Start with the larger in diameter.

STEP 19

Reinstall everything.

Position each element and tighten to the appropriate torque.

Reconnect the cable to the screen.

STEP 20

Plug the charger into the socket on the seat tube.

Charge the battery to 100% before you turn it on (about 7 hours).

The battery is delivered in ‘sleep’ mode and must be charged before powering up.

See the SHIMANO STEPS E8000 User Manual for more info.

STEP 21

Once the battery is charged remove the charger and replace the plastic cover.

Turn on the battery by pressing the Power button on the top of the down tube without putting your feet on the pedals (otherwise the system doesn’t work).

See the SHIMANO STEPS E8000 User Manual for more info.

STEP 22

The SHIMANO STEPS E8000 system is a system that continues to evolve over time thanks to firmware updates. You can do these updates yourself via your smartphone or tablet with the E-Tube App. http://e-tubeproject.shimano.com/

STEP 23

Congratulations, your COMMENCAL bike is set and ready to roll!

Start with a test on flat ground at low speed to make sure everything is OK.

Now all you have to do is ride your favourite spot, have a good one!
